Crop growing guide

Soybean

Glycine max

A grain legume relying on effective nodulation, phosphorus, and uninterrupted moisture during flowering and pod fill.

Soybean (Glycine max) can obtain much of its nitrogen through compatible rhizobia, but roots still need suitable pH, oxygen, phosphorus, and micronutrients. Water stress from flowering through seed fill sharply limits pod retention.

For practical cultivation, Soybean needs its light, water, root-zone aeration, and nutrition managed as one system. The guidance below organizes those needs by growth stage; final field or container rates should follow the product label, plant size, local conditions, and soil or media analysis.

Ideal growing conditions

Light
Full sun for compact growth and pod set.
Climate
Warm seasonal conditions with low disease pressure during flowering and pod fill.
Water
Moderate, even moisture; flowering and pod fill are the most drought-sensitive periods.
Soil
Well-drained loam with suitable rhizobia, adequate phosphorus, and no severe acidity.
Soil pH
5.8–7.0

Nutrition by growth stage

1

Establishment

Sowing through a uniform stand

Roots, stand density, soil contact

Give Soybean a uniform start with seed-zone moisture and nutrient placement based on soil status.

2

Vegetative growth

Leaf, stem, tiller, or branch formation

Balanced nitrogen, roots, canopy efficiency

Split nutrition during Soybean canopy development rather than relying on one large dose that can be lost or create weak growth.

3

Reproductive transition

Flower or panicle initiation through set

Phosphorus, potassium, micronutrients, water

Soybean is sensitive to stress as reproductive structures form. Keep water and nutrient availability steady.

4

Seed or grain fill

Set through physiological maturity

Potassium, remobilization, crop quality

Protect healthy leaves and avoid excessive late nitrogen while Soybean moves reserves into seed or grain.

Alitura fertilizer program

Match each product to the crop stage and root zone. Final rates should follow the product label, soil condition, and local agronomic advice.

100% ORGANICPrime Blend
NPK 4-9-1

Prime Blend

Growing, Blooming

From IDR 27.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Reproductive transition · Seed or grain fill

balanced four-input organic nutrition can support Soybean when its use follows crop stage, soil condition, and the product label.

Best timing

Introduce during active growth and the higher-demand stages listed above; avoid a large corrective dose close to harvest or dormancy.

How to apply for this crop

Apply to moist soil around the active Soybean root zone, keep material away from stems or crowns, water in, and adjust the amount to plant size and field or container conditions.

General product guidance

Work Prime Blend into the soil or growing media near the root zone before planting, or side-dress around established plants and water in well. As a general guide, use roughly a small handful per plant or about 50-100 g per square meter, then reapply every 4-6 weeks through the active growing season. Scale dosage to crop size and pot or bed volume, and always confirm rates against the instructions on your pack.

Alitura's Reserve

Most Balanced NPK 5-5-5 Organic Nutritional Fertilizer

From IDR 28.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Establishment · Vegetative growth

balanced soil-building organic nutrition provides a defensible foundation for Soybean without replacing soil or leaf analysis.

Best timing

Use during soil preparation, establishment, or recovery, then reassess before the next growth stage.

How to apply for this crop

Spread evenly through the cultivated root zone or media, mix lightly where appropriate, and never pile fertilizer against Soybean.

General product guidance

Use Alitura's Reserve as a base feed at planting and as a top-up through the growing season. As a general guide, work a small handful into the soil around each plant or mix it into potting media before planting, then reapply every 4 to 6 weeks during active growth. For garden beds, broadcast evenly over the soil surface and lightly incorporate, then water in well. Powder works best mixed into soil or media. Always water after applying and adjust the amount to plant size and soil condition.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Copying one fertilizer program without checking soil status, variety, or yield target.
  • Applying nutrients just before runoff-prone rain or uncontrolled irrigation.
  • Using excessive late nitrogen and delaying maturity or weakening stems.
  • Use effective inoculant where compatible rhizobia are absent instead of substituting heavy nitrogen.
