Crop growing guide

Grape

Vitis vinifera

A deciduous fruiting vine requiring disciplined pruning, open canopies, and controlled water and nitrogen for quality clusters.

Grape (Vitis vinifera) bears on shoots arising from selected one-year wood, making pruning and training central to both yield and disease control. In humid tropics, rain protection, airflow, and restrained canopy vigor are especially important during flowering and ripening.

For practical cultivation, Grape needs its light, water, root-zone aeration, and nutrition managed as one system. The guidance below organizes those needs by growth stage; final field or container rates should follow the product label, plant size, local conditions, and soil or media analysis.

Ideal growing conditions

Light
Full sun on a well-ventilated trellis or support.
Climate
Warm tropical to subtropical conditions; dry foliage and airflow help reduce disease pressure.
Water
Consistent root-zone moisture, reduced slightly as fruit approaches maturity where appropriate.
Soil
Loose, fertile, well-drained loam with support for a wide but relatively shallow feeder-root system.
Soil pH
5.5–7.0

Nutrition by growth stage

1

Establishment

Planting through canopy formation

Roots, structure, organic matter

Give young Grape a broad, aerated root zone before pushing rapid canopy growth. Use mature organic inputs in modest split applications.

2

Vegetative growth

Active shoot and canopy flushes

Balanced nutrition, leaf area, resilient shoots

Support each Grape flush steadily, then allow shoots to harden. Excess nitrogen can create soft growth and delay reproductive balance.

3

Flower initiation and bloom

Before buds form through full bloom

Phosphorus, potassium, micronutrient balance

Grape needs steady rather than abrupt nutrition as it shifts from shoots to flowers. Avoid a fresh surge of nitrogen at this stage.

4

Fruit set and fill

From successful set until harvest

Potassium, water stability, fruit retention

Maintain even root moisture and potassium availability while Grape carries fruit. Large moisture or salt swings increase stress and fruit loss.

5

Post-harvest recovery

Immediately after harvest and pruning

Canopy renewal, roots, stored reserves

Return organic matter and balanced nutrition after harvest so Grape can rebuild leaves, roots, and reserves for the next cycle.

Alitura fertilizer program

Match each product to the crop stage and root zone. Final rates should follow the product label, soil condition, and local agronomic advice.

100% ORGANICDurian Special Mix

Durian Special Mix

Special organic blend formulated for fruit plant growth and crop quality.

From IDR 28.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Fruit set and fill · Post-harvest recovery

Durian Special Mix organic nutrition can support Grape when its use follows crop stage, soil condition, and the product label.

Best timing

Introduce during active growth and the higher-demand stages listed above; avoid a large corrective dose close to harvest or dormancy.

How to apply for this crop

Apply to moist soil around the active Grape root zone, keep material away from stems or crowns, water in, and adjust the amount to plant size and field or container conditions.

General product guidance

Apply around the active root zone or mix into the planting media according to the package label, then water lightly. Adjust the amount to plant size, soil condition, and crop stage.

NPK 5-5-5

Alitura's Reserve

Most Balanced NPK 5-5-5 Organic Nutritional Fertilizer

From IDR 28.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Establishment · Vegetative growth

balanced soil-building organic nutrition provides a defensible foundation for Grape without replacing soil or leaf analysis.

Best timing

Use during soil preparation, establishment, or recovery, then reassess before the next growth stage.

How to apply for this crop

Spread evenly through the cultivated root zone or media, mix lightly where appropriate, and never pile fertilizer against Grape.

General product guidance

Use Alitura's Reserve as a base feed at planting and as a top-up through the growing season. As a general guide, work a small handful into the soil around each plant or mix it into potting media before planting, then reapply every 4 to 6 weeks during active growth. For garden beds, broadcast evenly over the soil surface and lightly incorporate, then water in well. Powder works best mixed into soil or media. Always water after applying and adjust the amount to plant size and soil condition.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Piling fertilizer against the trunk instead of distributing it through the active root zone.
  • Pushing nitrogen during flowering and creating leaf growth that competes with fruit set.
  • Ignoring post-harvest recovery and expecting the next crop without rebuilding reserves.
  • Do not use heavy nitrogen to replace correct pruning; excess vigor shades clusters and increases disease risk.
