Crop growing guide

Aglaonema

Aglaonema spp.

A tropical foliage plant valued for patterned leaves and tolerant of moderate light when roots remain warm and aerated.

Aglaonema grows slowly under indoor light and therefore needs modest nutrition. Overwatering and cold wet media cause more problems than mild underfeeding.

For practical cultivation, Aglaonema needs its light, water, root-zone aeration, and nutrition managed as one system. The guidance below organizes those needs by growth stage; final field or container rates should follow the product label, plant size, local conditions, and soil or media analysis.

Ideal growing conditions

Light
Bright indirect light; avoid prolonged harsh midday sun on leaves.
Climate
Warm, stable temperatures with moderate to high humidity and airflow.
Water
Water thoroughly, then allow the upper media to drain and partially dry according to the species.
Soil
Chunky, porous, organic media that balances moisture retention with root oxygen.
Soil pH
5.5–6.8

Nutrition by growth stage

1

Establishment

Potting or planting through root recovery

Roots, airy media, moisture balance

Allow Aglaonema roots to recover in porous media before applying anything stronger than a mild organic feed.

2

Active foliage growth

New leaf and stem production

Balanced nitrogen, magnesium, leaf quality

Feed Aglaonema lightly and consistently so new leaves expand evenly without weak, oversized growth.

3

Maintenance

Slower growth or mature display

Root health, clean leaves, restrained feeding

Reduce Aglaonema feeding when light or growth slows; wet media and unused nutrients are a common root-risk combination.

Alitura fertilizer program

Match each product to the crop stage and root zone. Final rates should follow the product label, soil condition, and local agronomic advice.

100% ORGANICAglaonema Special Mix

Aglaonema Special Mix

Special organic blend formulated for decorative plant growth and crop quality.

From IDR 28.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Active foliage growth · Maintenance

Aglaonema Special Mix organic nutrition can support Aglaonema when its use follows crop stage, soil condition, and the product label.

Best timing

Introduce during active growth and the higher-demand stages listed above; avoid a large corrective dose close to harvest or dormancy.

How to apply for this crop

Apply to moist soil around the active Aglaonema root zone, keep material away from stems or crowns, water in, and adjust the amount to plant size and field or container conditions.

General product guidance

Apply around the active root zone or mix into the planting media according to the package label, then water lightly. Adjust the amount to plant size, soil condition, and crop stage.

Alitura's Reserve

Most Balanced NPK 5-5-5 Organic Nutritional Fertilizer

From IDR 28.000 / Kg(Packaging 20Kg)

Recommended for

Establishment · Active foliage growth

balanced soil-building organic nutrition provides a defensible foundation for Aglaonema without replacing soil or leaf analysis.

Best timing

Use during soil preparation, establishment, or recovery, then reassess before the next growth stage.

How to apply for this crop

Spread evenly through the cultivated root zone or media, mix lightly where appropriate, and never pile fertilizer against Aglaonema.

General product guidance

Use Alitura's Reserve as a base feed at planting and as a top-up through the growing season. As a general guide, work a small handful into the soil around each plant or mix it into potting media before planting, then reapply every 4 to 6 weeks during active growth. For garden beds, broadcast evenly over the soil surface and lightly incorporate, then water in well. Powder works best mixed into soil or media. Always water after applying and adjust the amount to plant size and soil condition.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Keeping rich media permanently wet around indoor roots.
  • Overfeeding under low light and producing weak, stretched growth.
  • Applying concentrated fertilizer to dry or damaged roots.
  • Reduce watering and feeding together when indoor light decreases.
